Horseback rider fitness — stretches, exercises, etc.?

I’d like to know some stretches/exercises that I can do at home to stay fit for horseback riding. I’ve googled equestrian stretches and such words but it all comes up with books to buy. I haven’t had a chance to buy any books. Also, would you recommend buying the book "The Rider’s Fitness Guide to a Better Seat"? If not, is there another book that might help me?

Just do yoga.

I’m also a horseback rider and I take my riding fitness pretty seriously. Horseback riding takes more fitness then people think!

Some good exercises would be squats and squat holds.
Squats really develop your thigh muscles.

Balancing on one foot gives you great balance which helps a lot during riding.

Yoga positions really help too. They make you more flexible and stronger.

    Downward Facing Dog:
This yoga position really stretches your calf and leg muscles. It also stretches your back muscles.
