<br />You may not be overweight depending on your height but I will answer regardless. I have two children and decided to start walking again to get my body back. I walk four brisk miles 5-6 times per week, have a small, healthy bfast and lunch and then a salmon fillet for dinner and a small spinach salad. I&#8217;ve done this religously for two months and have lost 14 pounds and am back in a size four. You&#8217;re younger than I am so maybe you&#8217;ll lose more, just do it the healthy way, its the only way it will stay off and you&#8217;ll feel better anyways.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s the low-down on what I&#8217;m doing to lose weight and how it works. </p>
<p>1. Figure out what your &#8220;maintain weight&#8221; calories are and eat 500 calories LESS than that number every day.</p>
<p>2. Exercise for at least 30 minutes, 5x/week.</p>
<p>3. Drink water! Divide your weight in half and drink that number in ounces of water every day.</p>
<p>(4. Make healthier choices as you go along and get better at doing steps 1-3.)</p>
<p>FROM THE VIDEO:</p>
<p>The salad is:<br />
1 Bowl of Romaine Lettuce and Spinach<br />
2 Tbsp Light Vinaigrette Dressing<br />
1/2 Tomato, sliced<br />
1/4 Cucumber, peeled and sliced<br />
1/4 Cup Garlic Feta Cheese<br />
= around 110-130 calories <img src='http://www.getfitfresno.org/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>YUM!</p>
<p>Green Tea (and similar Asian teas), English Breakfast Tea and Irish Breakfast Tea need no sweetener if you use 1 Tsp of lemon juice instead (0 calories). </p>
<p>Vanilla chai (and decaf vanilla chai), peppermint tea and bangal spice teas all also need no sweeteners or additives of any kind.</p>

This video clip shows how to do crunches with varying degrees of difficulty based on your ability.  Remember that ab exercises alone will not give you abs!  If you have the best abs in the world they will be completely invisible if you are overweight.  Aerobic exercise and proper diet are even more important than ab exercises in getting that sought after 6-pack.</p>
<p>Form is very important in crunches, many people do them incorrectly and end up working out their neck or hips more than their abs.   Use slow movements and only use the abs. Concentrate on trying to raise your shoulders straight up towards the ceiling.  Don&#8217;t worry about how many reps you do but focus on using perfect form.  No whipping the head around or flapping your arms! This is not a sit-up either, the hips are stationary.  Also important is to minimize any tension in the neck, I do this by very lightly supporting my head with my hands or the weight plate</p>
<p>The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs stabilize your lower back and shield you from injury but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great!  </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I am starting an <a href="http://www.getfitfresno.org" target=_self>exercise program</a> and the equipment I have to start with are two dumbbells at 20 Lbs each and an exercise bar for pull ups, sit ups and to hold on to for squats. I am looking at simply getting into shape right now, but am also In training for a 6 month backpack trip in the mountains next year. I am 46 years old and out of shape.<br />
I would like to find illistrations of the exercises as well. I am on Lexipro and Seraquel.<br />
<br />If you don&#8217;t have much equipment and Just starting out, but you want to get in great shape to handle your backpacking trips, check out the link in the sources.  It&#8217;s a dumbbell routine I think you&#8217;ll really like.</p>
<p>If you want something different you could also try the bodyweight workout, it&#8217;s pretty good as well.  Check out the second source link for that.  </p>
<p>Oh, yes, there are pictures on how to do the exercises too.  </p>
