Don’t let the TV ads convince you to buy some bulky contraption that will gather dust in your closet, crunches are safe and effective! This video clip shows how to do crunches with varying degrees of difficulty based on your ability. Remember that ab exercises alone will not give you abs! If you have the best abs in the world they will be completely invisible if you are overweight. Aerobic exercise and proper diet are even more important than ab exercises in getting that sought after 6-pack.
Form is very important in crunches, many people do them incorrectly and end up working out their neck or hips more than their abs. Use slow movements and only use the abs. Concentrate on trying to raise your shoulders straight up towards the ceiling. Don’t worry about how many reps you do but focus on using perfect form. No whipping the head around or flapping your arms! This is not a sit-up either, the hips are stationary. Also important is to minimize any tension in the neck, I do this by very lightly supporting my head with my hands or the weight plate
The main reason to workout abs is because strong abs stabilize your lower back and shield you from injury but as a side benefit a 6-pack looks great!

Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

I am starting an exercise program and the equipment I have to start with are two dumbbells at 20 Lbs each and an exercise bar for pull ups, sit ups and to hold on to for squats. I am looking at simply getting into shape right now, but am also In training for a 6 month backpack trip in the mountains next year. I am 46 years old and out of shape.
I would like to find illistrations of the exercises as well. I am on Lexipro and Seraquel.
If you don’t have much equipment and Just starting out, but you want to get in great shape to handle your backpacking trips, check out the link in the sources. It’s a dumbbell routine I think you’ll really like.
If you want something different you could also try the bodyweight workout, it’s pretty good as well. Check out the second source link for that.
Oh, yes, there are pictures on how to do the exercises too.

Right now, I have some free weights, and a schedule that would let me work out three days a week, and have rest days in between. I’d like to get healthier and some tone so I’d look good and feel good. I’m currently in decent enough shape, but there is room for improvement.
Could you suggest some plans for a full body workout/ exercises program?

How many days per week? How many minutes of cardio and what are the exercises for cardio? How many minutes of weight lifting and what muscle groups to work out and when? This program is for a 25 yr old female.
The best program for this is that used by celebrities. Functional resistance interval training. This is high-intensity cardio training utilizing full-body exercises. Blasts 500-600 ccalories in 20 minutes and produces post-workout calorie burn during the next 2 days! Below is a site featuring free videos with a fitness model performing such workouts. There is also a paid product called "Turbulence Training". These are the best.

I want an exercise program I can go out and buy for stomach love handles and thighs. I want to lose a little but mostly just tighten. I have a wedding to go to July 10th and want to look good. I stay home all day so I have plenty of time to do it. Any suggestions would be great, THANKS!

I looked into the p90x program and i’ve always wanted to try it, but $120 is a bit too much for me. Is there any other Weight loss exercise programs like p90x but cheaper?
Hi,
I graduated high school at 240 pounds and at 5 foot 3 that made me about as round as I was tall. I was one of those overweight teenagers who ate anything and everything without any regard to the effects it was having on my own body. Therefore, I began the diet pills, which did not work; I ate the special diet foods and even began drinking diet beverages. None of this stuff worked for me, just as it does not work for millions of overweight people. Eating less did not work and I was not one to work out or even get up and do anything remotely related to exercise. I knew I would look silly and it would hurt. I never thought or really cared about the health effects this would have on me, back then.
A year ago after a successful weight loss plan, now at 120 pounds, it is a major difference. I’ve lost 30 pounds in the first month. The most significant change in my life is the amount of energy I now have and the way my clothes fit loosely. Everyone close to me and people I haven’t seen in a while are amazed and tell me that I look really good. This is a life changing experience for me although at first I was skeptical about the weight loss plan.
Without getting too technical, there is a hormone produced by your thyroid gland called ‘Thyroxine’ that raises the metabolic rate of almost all the cells in your body. The weight loss program has proven to be effective in the short and long-term, without need to endure starvation and without any daily athletic workout. (But taking a light exercise every few days is highly recommended).
