How much should I exercise to lose weight?

February 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in exercise to lose weight | 10 Comments »

I need to lose 50 pounds but would love to lose more like 60-70 pounds to get to what I think is my ideal weight. How much exercise should I be getting and how often? I’ve committed myself to 3 days a week at the gym doing 45 minutes of cardio but I’m sure more would be better…right?

Hi SamiGirl! It would help if you increase your intensity, and decrease your time.30-40 minutes of warming is already good and enough time for 8-10 sets with a 2 min. rest between sets. Staying in the gym for quite a long time can lose your focus and you’ll definitely not gonna have things done. It is not advisable to combine your lifting and your cardio, have it separated by a day. This can absolutely give you best results.

I have also provided you a schedule on how to do it correctly every week..Enjoy!
Monday:Strength
Tueasday:Cardio Workout: Steady Pace
Wednesday:Strength
Thursday:Cardio Workout: Steady Pace
Friday:Strength
Saturday:Cardio Workout: Steady Pace

if im a bra size 34a, can i fit in a 32b, or 34b? whats the thing with the sister sizes? i dont get it?

February 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in get fit | 7 Comments »

normally im a 34a, but just wondering can i fit in a 32b, or 34b? becuase at charlotte russe
their bras start in 34b..

Sister sizes mean they have the same cup volume on different band sizes (smaller or bigger.) Band size is relevant to cup size. A 34A is equivalent to a 32B, 30C and 28D (the rule is to go up one band size, down a cup size or up a cup size down a band size.) If you’ve noticed, a 32C is a lot smaller than a 40C, or any other cup/band size for that matter.

24 hour fitness workouts?

February 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in fitness workouts | 2 Comments »

okay me and my sister just joined 24 and she only wants to do like running exercises.. but i also want to work on my chest and abdomen what machines are good for that?? and how many reps are good for a beginner? thanks and i appreciate the help! :D

For a beginner, keep your reps in between 12-15 reps for each set of exercises. (If you’ve NEVER worked out in your life, I’d consider up to 18 reps. ) Either way, none of this "make your brain explode on the 4th rep" type stuff. Now, don’t get that confused with "I only need to do 15 then I’ll stop". IF you feel on your last set that you coud pump out 23 reps if you had a gun to your head, then you’re not using a heavy enough weight. 15 should be the most you’re getting on your last set.

For chest mchines, there’s the chest fly machine, pec deck (some trainers hate this machine as it may be bad for shoulder movement over time), sitting chest press, regular chest press, incline chest press, cable cross overs etc etc.. it goes on and on..
However, may I recommend – especially if you’re just starting: The good old fashioned Push up. There’s so many different variations of push ups, it’s insane (just google push up variations).

Abdomen: it’s endless. You can put on FAR more reps for your abs. as far as ab machines, there’s not as many as the chest because you can usually kill yourself just fine using just your own body weight for ab exercises. Just google up some ab exercises and you’ll be fine. Just make sure you MAX yourself out when doing them. None of this "oh dear, that’s gets a bit tender doesn’t it? I think I’ll stop now.." No no.. get in there and push that intensity HIGH.

Im really bad at running any exercises i can do to improve my fitness?

February 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in fitness exercises | 5 Comments »

when i run i find myself getting alot of cramps n hard to breathe and stuff im really unfit but im not like fat or anything. im just.. weak i guess.

any healthy ways to quickly improve my fitness?

You can’t really improve fitness quickly. You can put in the time and effort and build your strength over a period of time.

Practice jogging. Move at a pace faster then a walk, but not a run. When you get crampy and you can’t breathe, keep working and try to go as long as possible. If you have to stop, keep walking. Walk fast and get your breath back. Then kick it up to a jog again. Put in 30-40 minutes three times a week. In a month, you’ll be much better.

Exercise Program?

February 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in exercise program | 4 Comments »

I’m 18 over 160 lbs and 5’9. Ive recently started jogging twice a night, once with my cousin and then later after dark with the dog for about 10 minutes just around the block. I have a health condition (Thyroid) So Its not because im lazy and a pig that I’m overweight but I was wondering a good site to show how much exercise i should be getting daily (or in my case nightly) to slim down to about 140 in 3 months, or if thats even healthy, and also how to get toned while losing weight. I’m also snacking 6 times a day instead of eating 3 big meals. So anymore advice would be great or any cool websites to check out. :) Thanks.

You are making a move forward and that’s great. I am going to break this down into 2 parts for you, diet and exercise.

First off, diet. Let me say it is healthy to lose 20lbs in 3 months, at an average of a pound a week. Just keep optimistic and focus on your goal to avoid the "it’s not working" blues. Snacking through the day is great because it helps your metabolism going. Making the right snack choices and having your snacks near the same time everyday to train your body is the key. You should have only 3 snacks and 3 meals a day. Focus on healthy snacks that have high protein to get you through the day. Save your carbs for your meals. You should consume about 2000 calories a day. As you may or may not know there are foods that aggravate condition. Limit your intake of these foods rapeseed, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, maize, lima beans, soya and pearl millet they will only worsen your problem. Foods like beetroot, radish, parsley, potatoes, fish, oatmeal and bananas should be kept in the diet. Also keep away from fats, sugars, sodium chloride, red meat and eggs. You may also want to try a supplement high in Vitamin A, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Now your exercise. Work on gradually increasing the length of your walks and jogs. You should be setting a goal of 20 minutes getting your heart rate up between 111 and 171 bpm (beats per minute). It may be strenuous but thats the point. Hope that helps.

Best type of exercise, lose weight, get tighs in shape?

February 19th, 2010 -- Posted in exercise to lose weight | 2 Comments »

I am overweight, trying to lose it seriously for about 6 weeks now. It doesn’t seem like much is happening.
I stand/walk/carry heavy things up and down stairs all day at work.
I started out cutting things out of my diet, adding in better stuff. Now I am seriously keeping my calories between 1200-1800. I am not sure where exactly I should be. To me it seems like my diet is a complete 180.
I went from walking an hour , to using a mini stair stepper , and then I downloaded an aerobics video, "Pump It Up" when I realized I couldn’t afford a better exercise machine right now. I feel like I am willing to do whatever I can do that will work best.

I am trying to lose weight. I am trying to strengthen my tighs, as per doctor’s orders. I overstress my calfs by standing all day, and I guess I rely on my calfs when using my legs.

Should I be saving to buy an elliptical or a stationary bike? Are aerobics videos sufficient for burning calories/getting in shape?

Congradulations on your new healthy approach to life..
Several years ago I was definetley, obese.
I decided that I was going to lose it before it killed me.
I parked my car….literally and began walking.
The first mile almost killed me but soon I was so use to that one mile, I stretched it out to two miles.and so on until I was walking just for the freedom of it.
The cardio work-out as I was walking quite fast sure made a great difference in my energy and tolerance level.
I am guessing that you are female from your question on specific areas, and the number of calories you consume daily.
In order to lose one pound, you must burn 3,500 calories.
Keep in mind that as you are working out, the scales may tell you that you have gained..muscle weights twice of what fat does…so go by how your clothes fit..looser…you have lost inches. That is awesome.
Walking at a rapid rate…not so fast that you can’t talk or sing to yourself…will help burn fat cells from all over especially your legs and butt.
Swimming is also a fantastic and enjoyable way of losing weight, without pulling any muscles.
The further you swim the more you burn. Plus you do not need to swim as fast as you can , instead, pace yourself and see how many lengths you can make it the first time.
Keep that rate for 3 days and then bump it up to a few more lengths of the pool. Soon you will have leaner legs and smaller tush, plus toning the rest of your body and giving your heart and lungs the chance to have a complete healthy , zero impact exercise routine.
I did that and before I knew it I had lost 98 pounds in 4 1/2 months. I also cut out all potato, butter, and fats. I only allowed myself one slice of whole wheat or multigrain bread a day.
Protein and raw colourful vegies and salad, with three moderate sized fruits daily ( always an ornage to keep your body well balanced)
Remember your body is use to being pushed with the type of job you have..that is what is considered normal daily routine for your body…so it won’t give up fat cells easily.
Drinking as much water,( with a bit of lemon in the evenings and at night ) as you possibly can.Between the water, (with a bit of lemon) watching your food intake, will boost your metabolic rate quite rapidly…that is when you will begin to see a brand new you.
Other metabolic boosters are parsley, lemons naturally, Italian flakes, garlic, hot spices if you can handle them.
If we begin our day, with a glass of quite cold water…our body has to work hard to warm it up…the same thing with spices, hot spices, will make your body work very hard to cool it down.
So go for a nice quick paced walk, swim, or do both on alternate days if you would enjoy that. When you walk please walk with a great purpose, holding yourself tall and straight.
Plus imagine( this is a funny part but true)as you are sitting, standing, walking, running up and down stairs or swimming…all of your waking moments," that you are holding a thousand dollar bill… between your bottom cheeks"….serious… this will strenghten your abs, butt, posture, internal organs become more supported and you will burn fat cells in the areas you desire, as well as tone muscles as you lose.
I wish you all the luck going.
If I can do it anyone can.

put a picture of someone who you want to look like (someone with a nice body and very pretty) (a celebrity) or put a picture of yourself when you were skinnier if you have one.. and just think of what you will look like when you lose weight, you will look hot or something like that
